Frequently asked questions
Q1: Who should take the BLS Provider course?
A: This course is designed for healthcare professionals, first responders, and students in medical or allied health programs who need CPR certification for employment or clinical requirements.
Q2: Is this course American Heart Association (AHA) certified?
A: Yes. METI’s BLS Provider course is AHA-certified and includes both CPR and AED instruction for adults, children, and infants.
Q3: How long is the certification valid?
A: Upon successful completion, your AHA BLS Provider certification is valid for 2 years.
Q4: What if my certification is expired—can I still take the course?
A: Yes. This course is open to first-time students and those renewing an expired certification.
Q5: Do I need to complete any online work before class?
A: No. This is a traditional, instructor-led course with all content taught in person—no pre-course online module is required.
Q6: If I’m renewing, do I need to show proof of my current CPR card?
A: Yes. METI will request a copy of your valid CPR card. If you cannot provide it or do not have a copy the day of class, you will be charged the remaining $35 for the full course at that time.
Q7: What if I don’t see a course date that works for me or I want METI to come to my location?
A: Absolutely. METI serves the entire State of Michigan. While listed courses are held at our METI Education Center in Novi, we can deliver custom courses on-site at your location—for any number of students, anywhere in the state.
Q: Who can attend the CE Rodeo?
A: EMS providers of all license levels (EMT, AEMT, Paramedic) are welcome. Each day is structured to meet level-specific CE needs.
Q: How many spots are available?
A: Each session is limited to 10 participants and registration is first-come, first-served.
Q: Are the CE hours approved for license renewal?
A: Yes! All CE courses are approved for MDHHS EMS licensure. However, METI does not guarantee all CE hours will meet every provider’s specific renewal needs.
Q: Does this include all the CE hours I need to renew my license?
A: No. The CE Rodeo does not include 1 hour of individual CE for the Paramedic level or 2 hours of CPR/BLS required by MDHHS. METI offers additional courses to fulfill those requirements. Attached is a copy of the METI CE Course Hours Audit against the MDHHS Requirements.
Q: Do I have to attend every day?
A: Yes, participants must attend all required days for their license level. If you miss a day, you’ll only receive credit for days attended, per MDHHS and METI policy.
Q: Can I get a refund if I miss a day?
A: No. All payments are final, and no refunds will be given for absences.
Q: What if I need help finishing the rest of my CE hours?
A: METI offers additional classes year-round to help you complete your CE requirements.
